The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Monday Semaya Kumba, received in his office this morning the Norwegian Minister of International Development, Åsmund Aukrust, along with his accompanying delegation, during an official visit aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries.
Minister Kumba welcomed his Norwegian counterpart, praising the strong bilateral ties and continued cooperation between Juba and Oslo.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister provided a briefing on the latest political developments in South Sudan, highlighting ongoing efforts and preparations for the upcoming elections.
Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing constructive dialogue and joint cooperation to further strengthen the longstanding relations between the two countries, in addition to discussing a number of issues of mutual interest and various areas of cooperation.
The Minister expressed the Government of South Sudan’s appreciation for Norway’s continued support, particularly in the areas of development and humanitarian work.
For his part, the Norwegian minister expressed his pleasure at visiting South Sudan, commending the ongoing dialogue among South Sudanese leaders and the progress made in humanitarian areas. He also reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting peace, stability, and development efforts in the country.
The Norwegian minister is also scheduled to meet with a number of senior government officials during his visit to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation.
