The President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, departed this morning for Djibouti to attend the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Ismail Omar Guelleh as President of the Republic of Djibouti.
On the sidelines of the visit, the two leaders are expected to hold bilateral talks aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries, with a particular focus on enhancing economic cooperation and regional coordination in a way that serves their mutual interests.




Officials stated that the visit reflects South Sudan’s commitment to strengthening its relations with Horn of Africa states and promoting regional partnerships that support stability and economic development in the region.
Djibouti holds strategic importance in the region due to its geographical location, which connects Horn of Africa countries to international maritime trade routes. This presents significant opportunities for South Sudan to benefit from port services and facilitate the movement of imports and exports.
Officials further noted that President Salva Kiir’s participation in the inauguration underscores his country’s commitment to advancing regional cooperation and promoting peace and prosperity in the Horn of Africa.
