The Government of Eastern Equatoria State has launched the rehabilitation works of the Kapoeta–Nagيرو Road, one of the strategic infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing trade, improving essential services, and connecting local communities to centers of economic and social activity.

Speaking during the launch ceremony, the State Minister of Trade and Industry said the project marks the beginning of a new phase of development and community transformation, noting that the road will facilitate the movement of people and goods while creating broader economic opportunities for residents, particularly livestock farmers and local traders.

The Minister explained that the road will link production areas to markets, enable students to access schools, and help families obtain healthcare services consistently, especially during the rainy season when transportation becomes extremely difficult.

He added that the project is part of the state government’s vision to promote economic and social development and improve infrastructure, praising the continued support and close follow-up of the Governor of Eastern Equatoria State in implementing development and public service projects.

The ministry also commended the efforts of investors and local authorities, particularly the Commissioners of Kapoeta South and Budi counties, as well as community leaders and partners who contributed to the commencement of the project.

The implementing agencies and technical teams were urged to adhere to the required engineering standards and project timeline to ensure high-quality rehabilitation works capable of withstanding harsh weather conditions and heavy rains, thereby guaranteeing sustainable long-term benefits.

The Minister further called on communities in Greater Kapoeta and Budi County to cooperate with the implementing bodies and provide security for workers, stressing that the project’s success depends on joint efforts between the government and local communities.

Upon completion, the project is expected to stimulate commercial activities, improve living conditions, and connect rural areas to service centers across Eastern Equatoria State.
