The Vice President of the Republic in charge of the Infrastructure Cluster, Mr. Taban Deng Gai, held a consultative meeting at his office in Juba with the Governor of Upper Nile State, Mr. Jacob Dollar Ruot, to discuss recent security developments, ongoing development efforts, and initiatives aimed at strengthening peace and stability in the state.
During the meeting, the Governor provided a comprehensive briefing on the security situation across various parts of Upper Nile, affirming that the overall situation remains under control due to continuous coordination between the state government, organized forces, and local leadership. He noted that current efforts are focused on preventing security incidents and promoting peaceful coexistence among communities.
The Governor also outlined the state’s priorities for the next phase, emphasizing the importance of supporting infrastructure projects, improving basic public services, and intensifying national support to accelerate recovery and stimulate growth in Upper Nile State.
In a related context, the Governor informed the Vice President about the outcomes of his recent tours to the northern counties, where he held extensive meetings with traditional authorities, local leaders, youth, and community representatives to assess challenges and needs on the ground. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to community partnership and inclusive governance as key pillars for achieving sustainable peace.
The Governor further announced his intention to temporarily relocate his office to Nasir County next month, a move aimed at addressing the root causes of insecurity, strengthening direct coordination with local stakeholders, and closely overseeing stabilization efforts.
For his part, the Vice President welcomed the briefing and commended the state government’s efforts in maintaining security and responding to citizens’ needs. He reaffirmed the national government’s continued support for initiatives aimed at consolidating stability and advancing development in Upper Nile State.
