During the meeting, both parties discussed the interest of Russian investors in South Sudan and ways to coordinate their activities with the SSRA within the existing legal and regulatory framework.
Commissioner General William Anyuon Kol reaffirmed the SSRA’s commitment to supporting and cooperating with Russian companies, particularly regarding tax matters, customs procedures, and compliance with regulations and laws.
Regarding tax exemptions, the Commissioner General explained that all diplomatic missions are legally entitled to tax exemptions, provided they comply with the required legal procedures. He also emphasized that certain goods, notably cigarettes and other restricted items, remain strictly regulated under national tax laws and cannot be exempted.
The meeting highlighted the SSRA’s openness to international cooperation while underscoring its commitment to protecting South Sudan’s national revenue and safeguarding public resources.
