Al-Wadi: Agencies

The South African national team has been crowned champions of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

South Africa secured the title by defeating Morocco 1–0 in the final match.

The final was held at the Air Defense Stadium.

This marks South Africa’s first-ever title win in the history of the tournament.

South Africa’s only goal in the match was scored by Kekana with a shot from outside the penalty area after a pass from the goalkeeper, which the defense failed to properly deal with.

Initially, the goal was disallowed for offside but was eventually awarded after a VAR review.

Nigeria remains the record holder of the tournament with seven titles.

Nigeria had earlier claimed the bronze medal after beating Egypt in the third-place match via penalty shootout.

The teams that qualified for the U-20 World Cup from this tournament are South Africa, Morocco, Nigeria, and Egypt.
