Juba – Alwadi Newspaper:
A security force closed the office of the Minister of General Education and Instruction in Central Equatoria State, Lopai Simon Andrew, last Friday in a sudden move that has not been officially explained at the time of filing this report.
According to Al-Haqiqa newspaper, an Arabic-language publication in Juba, a source within the ministry indicated that the closure may be linked to recent actions taken by the minister. These include raising questions about a committee formed to review investments in public schools, as well as opening a file concerning the sale of land belonging to the ministry.
These developments come at a time when the issue of illegal seizure and sale of government land continues to pose a persistent challenge to authorities. The matter has long been considered sensitive and is rarely addressed openly in official discussions in South Sudan.
No official comment has been obtained from the relevant authorities regarding the circumstances surrounding the office closure or the measures taken, as questions continue to grow over the reasons behind the move and its potential implications.
