Gold Star Causes an Upset and Eliminates Koryom from the Cup

Gold Star Rumbek defied all expectations and knocked out their rival Koryom Bor from the South Sudan National Cup competition with a 1-0 victory in the quarterfinal match held yesterday afternoon at Juba National Stadium.

The Rumbek champions maintained their lone goal, scored by player Achuil Adel in the 20th minute, until the final whistle.

The team had advanced from Group A in Rumbek to the second round of the competition along with Aweil United and Majak Ajuong.

With this result, the team qualifies for the semifinals of the 14th edition of the South Sudan National Cup.

Jamus Halts Majak Ajuong’s Run with a Seven-Goal Rout


In the first quarterfinal match of the South Sudan National Cup, Jamus Juba ended the fairy-tale run of Majak Ajuong Wanyjok at the quarterfinal stage, defeating them with a stunning seven goals to nil yesterday afternoon at Juba National Stadium.

The reigning champions shared the scoring among players Medit and Silva (each with two goals), as well as Ahmed, Agumemboke, and an own goal by a Majak Ajuong player.

With this result, Jamus became the first team to qualify for the semifinals, continuing their campaign to defend their title from last season.

Today’s quarterfinal matches will see “Galbalasad Melut” face Aweil United in the first game at Juba National Stadium. In the second match, last season’s runners-up, Al-Merreikh Bentiu, will face the challenge of Renk’s champions, Al-Merreikh, in the afternoon at the same venue.
