Vice President Dr. Bol Mel Expresses South Sudan’s Solidarity with the People of Congo for Lasting Peace

Vice President of South Sudan, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mrs. Gracia Yamba Kazadi. This meeting followed her prior discussions with Ambassador Mondy Simaya Kumba, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan.

The discussions focused on the current political and security situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo and explored ways to enhance security cooperation for protecting the shared borders. The two leaders also reviewed strategies to promote bilateral trade and investment to foster mutual economic growth, and exchanged views on building political capacity among the ruling parties in both countries.

Vice President Dr. Paul Malong expressed his deep appreciation for the Democratic Republic of Congo’s support during South Sudan’s struggle for liberation, affirming to Mrs. Kazadi that the people of South Sudan will remain forever grateful.

He also conveyed the greetings of President Salva Kiir Mayardit to his counterpart, President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Dr. Bol stated on his X platform: “As nations bound by history and shared aspirations, South Sudan will stand in solidarity with the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo in their quest for lasting peace, stability, and prosperity.”
