Unity State Governor Calls for Peaceful Coexistence and Emphasizes Security and Service Delivery in Mayom

The Governor of Unity State, Dr. Joseph Manytuel Wejang, has conducted an official visit to Mayom County as part of a tour aimed at assessing the status of social services and reviewing the security situation amid increasing tensions between some neighboring communities.

Upon his arrival in Mayom town, the Governor was received with a large official and public welcome, attended by women’s cultural groups, traditional leaders, and youth representatives, reflecting strong community engagement with the visit.

During his address to the citizens, the Governor reaffirmed his government’s commitment to addressing the challenges facing the county, stressing the importance of strengthening unity and peaceful coexistence among local communities, and adopting dialogue as a means of resolving disputes.

Governor Manytuel called on all communities to support peace and stability efforts, enabling the government to implement its plans aimed at improving the delivery of basic services. He also made a special appeal to the Bul Nuer community to maintain good relations with neighboring communities and avoid any actions that could escalate tensions.

He noted that rising insecurity, inter-communal clashes, and weak road infrastructure remain among the key challenges his government is prioritizing urgently.

The Governor is expected to continue his consultations with traditional leaders, local authorities, and community stakeholders as part of efforts to develop practical and sustainable solutions that promote peace and improve service delivery in the region.

He later proceeded to Mankien Payam to continue his engagements with local leaders.
