The President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, has reviewed a report on the implementation of presidential directives aimed at strengthening peace and stability in Upper Nile State, during a meeting with the state governor, Jacob Dollar Ruot.
The governor reported tangible progress in the security situation, noting improved stability and a decline in public anxiety, alongside increased presence of state institutions and intensified peacebuilding efforts. This, he said, has helped boost public confidence and encouraged residents to remain in their areas.
In a related context, the governor outlined the ongoing challenges facing the state, calling for additional support to strengthen basic service delivery and ensure adequate resources for both security forces and local communities. He also reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining peace and promoting national unity through enhanced community engagement and peace awareness programs.
He further noted that the establishment of local government structures in recent months has contributed to improved coordination among various entities and supported overall stability in the state.
For his part, President Salva Kiir commended the progress achieved, emphasizing the importance of continuing peace initiatives and strengthening cooperation across different levels of government. He also called for closer coordination with national ministers representing Upper Nile State to ensure unity of purpose and to achieve lasting peace and comprehensive stability in the state and the country.
