The South Sudan Premier League kicks off today amid great optimism

The South Sudan Premier League officially kicks off this afternoon at the Juba National Stadium in its first edition, after a long wait and anticipation.


The opening matches will be played between the champions and runners-up of the South Sudan National League last season.The first edition of the South Sudan Premier League in its first season involves 14 clubs from different associations under the banner of the South Sudan Football Association.

Among the clubs that have been given the honour of participating in this edition are Al Merrikh and Bentiu City from Bentiu, Al Malikiya, Kator and Jamous from Juba, Leon Hunter Yai, Young Star Torit, Olympic Rink, Holy Family Rumbek, Al Hilal Wau, Nile City Yambio, Corium Bor, Wajuma and Al Salam Awil. The tournament is being held under the patronage of several companies in the country that have always supported the General Football Association, most notably the official sponsor of the tournament, MTN South Sudan Telecommunications.


In the second match tomorrow, Kator Juba and Wajuma Awil will meet in the second match of the Premier League in the afternoon at the Juba National Stadium.
