The organization Future Generations for Peaceful Coexistence condemned the massacre that took place in the Jabal Iraq area (Khura Ghaltan), which resulted in the death of dozens of civilians working in traditional gold mining. The incident has sparked a wave of anger and concern in local communities.
The organization said in a statement received by Al-Wadi Newspaper—a copy of which was signed by its Secretary-General, Amir Sayed Tira Morji—that the incident represents a serious violation of human rights. It called for an urgent and comprehensive investigation to uncover the circumstances and bring the perpetrators to justice.
According to preliminary sources, the incident resulted in a large number of deaths and injuries, amid shock and grief among residents, especially since the victims were civilians engaged in traditional mining activities in the area.
The organization affirmed that what happened constitutes a “fully-fledged crime” and a blatant violation of the right to life and dignity, warning against any attempts to exploit the incident to fuel sectarian or political conflict.
In its statement, the organization called for several urgent measures, including:
- Forming an independent and transparent investigation committee to determine the details of the incident and hold those responsible accountable.
- Strengthening security measures in affected areas to prevent the recurrence of such crimes.
- Providing urgent humanitarian assistance to the families of victims and the injured.
Future Generations for Peaceful Coexistence stressed that achieving justice and enhancing security are essential pathways to restoring stability, calling for the promotion of peaceful coexistence and the rejection of violence in all its forms.
