The list of 24 teams that qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco, Total Energies, is complete after the sixth and final round of qualifiers, Tuesday, November 19.
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco, Total Energies, will be held in Morocco between December 21, 2025 and January 18, 2026.
The last days of the AFCON Morocco 2025 Total Energies qualifiers provided a lot of excitement as well as suspense.
All the teams that occupy the top ten positions in the FIFA rankings for the African continent (Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Nigeria, Algeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Tunisia, Cameroon, Mali, Democratic Republic of Congo) will compete in the finals.
Previous continental title winners Cameroon, DR Congo, Nigeria, Tunisia, Zambia and South Africa have secured their qualification to the Morocco finals in impressive fashion, ensuring the presence of some of the continent’s top teams.
Botswana secured their place in the 24-team roster for the finals after a 1-1 draw with Egypt. Prior to the match, Botswana was one of the most unlikely teams to qualify, finishing third in their group.
Zimbabwe, who have not qualified for the finals since 2021, booked their place in the finals after finishing second behind Cameroon in Group X.
The Comoros, who showed determination and resilience at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon, Total Energies, are back in the finals after shining in the qualifiers.
The 2025 edition, which promises to continue the record-breaking success of Cote d’Ivoire’s 2023 edition, will see the exciting return of some teams that have been absent from recent editions, such as Benin (since 2019), Botswana (2012), Gabon (2021), Uganda (2019) and Sudan (2021).
Next year’s edition of the finals, which has become one of the best tournaments in world football, will bring together a mix of traditional powers and up-and-coming teams looking to make their mark on the biggest sporting event on African soil.
These qualifiers revealed the intentions of regular finalists such as Angola, Burkina Faso, Mozambique and Tanzania, who all secured their qualification to the continental showpiece in Morocco.
