The President of the Republic, Salva Kiir Mayardit, has directed the swift implementation of civil service reforms, alongside urgent measures to ensure the timely payment of government employees’ salaries and outstanding arrears.

The directive came during a meeting with the Minister of Public Service, Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth, who presented a report on the progress of the ongoing biometric registration process, as well as the challenges affecting regular salary disbursements across the country.

The minister explained that the government has initiated steps to modernize the public sector payroll system, noting existing gaps that have contributed to delays in salary payments. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to advancing reforms aimed at enhancing transparency and improving institutional efficiency within the civil service.

For his part, President Kiir emphasized the importance of coordination between the Ministry of Finance and relevant financial institutions to implement measures that guarantee timely salary payments. He stressed that regular and prompt payment is essential for maintaining effective government performance and motivating the workforce.
