The Governor of Unity State, Dr. Joseph Manytuil Wejang, paid an official visit to the Deng Kuoth shrine in Koatne village, in a move aimed at strengthening engagement with spiritual leaders and supporting peace efforts in Mayom County.
According to a statement published on the official Facebook page of the Governor’s Office, the visit was part of a consultative initiative led by the Governor to involve various stakeholders in addressing security and stability issues in the area. During the visit, the Governor held discussions with the spiritual leader Garang Mut, widely known as Deng Kuoth, exchanging views on ways to address current security challenges.
Governor Manytuil commended the significant role played by the spiritual leader in promoting peaceful coexistence and mediating conflicts, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to working closely with community leaders to achieve lasting peace and stability.
For his part, Deng Kuoth urged the state government to intensify efforts to improve security conditions and deliver essential services that meet the needs and expectations of the local population.
The visit was marked by a warm public reception, with the Governor and his delegation participating in traditional rituals at the shrine, underscoring the importance of cultural heritage in fostering community unity.
