Strengthening Cooperation Between the Boxing Federation and Central Equatoria Government to Support Sports and Youth

As part of ongoing efforts to promote sports activities, the President of the South Sudan Boxing Federation, Theresa Athian Abdel Bagi, accompanied by a delegation from the federation, held a meeting with the Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, in Juba on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

The meeting discussed ways to develop boxing and expand its participation base in the state, as well as enhancing joint cooperation between the federation and local authorities. The federation’s delegation highlighted key challenges facing their work, most notably the lack of training facilities, shortage of sports equipment, and absence of suitable administrative offices.

For his part, Governor Adil affirmed his support for efforts to revitalize the sports sector, emphasizing the importance of sports as a means of strengthening social cohesion, particularly among youth. He also called for increased awareness campaigns on the importance of boxing and encouraged young people to engage in the sport.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation and working toward the development of boxing in a way that promotes the values of peace and unity within society.
