The President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, has received an official briefing from the Vice President and Chairperson of the Economic Cluster, Dr. James Wani Igga, covering the overall situation in the country, particularly economic and political developments, as well as the security situation.
Speaking to the press following the meeting, the Vice President stated that the briefing addressed key national issues, including ongoing efforts to achieve economic stability, tackle security challenges, and strengthen the political environment as the country approaches the upcoming general elections.
He added that the discussions also included internal arrangements within the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), focusing on reorganization and strengthening grassroots mobilization across the country’s states.
For his part, President Salva Kiir directed the need to align government priorities following the recent official visit to South Africa, with emphasis on adopting policies that ensure economic stability and ease living pressures, particularly rising inflation.
The President also underscored the importance of coordinating efforts among various state institutions to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of agreed policies.
This meeting comes as part of the government’s efforts to enhance institutional coordination, support economic stability, and prepare the political environment ahead of the upcoming electoral processes.
