Information Minister Discusses Peace Support and Preparations for 2026 Elections with UNMISS

The Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, Ateng Wik Ateng, held talks with the Chief of Political Affairs at the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), Guy Bennet, on a number of political and civic issues of mutual interest. The meeting took place at the minister’s office in Juba.

During the meeting, the minister reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of the Republic of South Sudan to the full implementation of the Revitalized Agreement, stressing the government’s readiness to move forward with preparations for the general elections scheduled for December 2026.

For his part, the UN official reiterated the mission’s commitment to continued cooperation with the Government of South Sudan and its support for efforts aimed at strengthening peace, stability, and security in the country.

The meeting comes as part of ongoing consultations between the government and its international partners to support the political process and consolidate peace ahead of the anticipated electoral process.
