Central Equatoria State Security Committee Takes Measures to Strengthen Stability and Resolve Border Disputes

Juba – Al-Wadi Newspaper

The Central Equatoria State Security Committee has reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the 2017 Presidential Order mandating the immediate return of cattle herders to their places of origin, as part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to enhance security and stability.

The announcement came during the committee’s regular meeting held yesterday, Tuesday, under the chairmanship of the Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony. The meeting reviewed the overall security situation in the state and issued a set of decisions and recommendations aimed at consolidating public order.

According to the outcomes of the meeting, the committee unanimously agreed to enforce the presidential directive requiring all cattle herders to leave the Equatoria region. It also called for the regulation of livestock movement owned by communities within the state, including the Ambororo groups. In addition, the committee directed security agencies to continue their operations against criminal gangs, particularly in Yei town, as a key step toward restoring public order and protecting citizens.

The committee further emphasized the need to continue reorganizing markets across all administrative areas, reiterating its instructions to the commissioners of the six counties, the local payams, and the Mayor of Juba City Council to improve service delivery and ensure easier access for residents.

In a related initiative, the committee expressed support for establishing a joint committee between the Governors of Central Equatoria and Lakes States to resolve the long-standing border dispute between Terekeka and Aweria, and to promote peaceful coexistence among communities along the shared border.

In closing, the committee highlighted the state government’s ongoing efforts to address various challenges, particularly in the areas of security and infrastructure organization, while urging the public to refrain from spreading rumors, negative propaganda, and actions that could threaten security or incite division within communities.
