Sudan qualified for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) after a goalless draw with Angola in their final continental qualifying match at the Shuhada Benina Stadium in Libya on Monday.
Sudan raised its tally to 8 points to finish second in Group VI, which was topped by Angola, which has 14 points.
Angola had the first threat after Randy Ntika fired a long-range shot that was saved by goalkeeper Mohamed Mostafa, before Sudan regained their balance and controlled the ball in the first half.
Sudan came closest to scoring after the break, with Walidin Khadir and Abdul Rauf Yacoub both hitting the crossbar twice.
Although Kwasi Appiah’s side were unable to find the back of the net against Angola, the draw was enough for Sudan to return to the Nations Cup for the first time since 2021 and qualify for the tenth time in their history.
