The Governor of Jonglei State, Dr. Riek Gai Kok, urged citizens and churchgoers to uphold unity, peace, and faith as fundamental values for the renewal of the state and the strengthening of its stability.
The remarks came during a church service held in Bor on Sunday, where the Governor called on Christians to rise above denominational divisions and foster collective fellowship, emphasizing the transformative power of prayer in healing both Jonglei State and the nation as a whole.
Governor Riek praised church leaders for their unwavering prayers during South Sudan’s most challenging periods, highlighting their vital role in sustaining community resilience. He added: “Our progress is not by human effort, but by God’s hand,” stressing that the restoration of Jonglei is inspired by spiritual and divine values.

The Governor also reviewed recent achievements of his administration and pledged to continue reforms grounded in spiritual principles, assuring citizens of the state’s stability. He cautioned against the misuse of social media, urging restraint and the avoidance of incitement or spreading false information.
Bor County Commissioner, Ateny Pech Arik, reinforced the Governor’s message, calling for calm and urging media outlets to report verified news while avoiding unconfirmed reports. He warned that political divisions could threaten peace and the current stability.
Church leaders echoed this message of hope, encouraging citizens and believers to remain steadfast and patient amid national and global challenges, emphasizing the role of faith as a cornerstone for good governance, social cohesion, and sustainable development.
The service was attended by prominent figures, clergy, and traditional leaders, in an event that underscored the importance of religion in building a cohesive and stable society.
