Derawet Media Group Highlights Documentation and Communication to Preserve South Sudan’s National Memory

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Derawet Media Group, Mr. Monyjok Kong Monyjok, received his fellow comrades in the struggle within the Sudan People’s Liberation Army and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, Major General Nathaniel Chol Gai Giir, an expert in strategic security, and Major General Ayuen Dot Thon, a security expert who has undertaken advanced studies at the Royal British College.

The guests praised the role played by Derawet Media Group, commending the step taken by Mr. Monyjok Kong in serving the nation through media work, considering it one of the important tools of struggle in conveying the voice and programs of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement and in preserving the history and struggles of the people of South Sudan.

For his part, Mr. Monyjok Kong explained that Derawet Media Group is working to republish the programs of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement through its preserved archives, in addition to introducing future generations to the early fighters within the ranks of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army, thereby contributing to the documentation of the national memory and linking the past with the present.

Major General Nathaniel Chol Gai Geir called for strengthening cooperation with individuals and institutions that possess documents related to the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, stressing the importance of communication and coordination, given the pivotal role of the media in connecting the history of the struggle with the future and in building national awareness.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Kong Monyjok expressed his appreciation for the visit of his comrades, affirming that the doors of the institution remain open for communication and the exchange of reliable and useful information, with the aim of conveying it to the public and linking the present generation with the history of their parents and grandparents, in order to preserve the land of the nation and the dignity of its people.
