The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Derawet Media Group, Mr. Manyjok Kong Manyjok, received Mr. Chol Angui Tap, who arrived from Australia, during a special visit to the group’s headquarters aimed at learning more about its media activities firsthand.
Mr. Shol Angui expressed the appreciation of the South Sudanese community in Australia for the content published by Derawet Media Group across its various platforms, particularly its website (www.derawetmedia.com). He commended the efforts made by the group’s staff and encouraged them to remain patient and committed to serving the people of South Sudan, while continuing to provide reliable and credible information to South Sudanese communities around the world.
Chol explained that his visit was intended to assess the group’s situation, offer moral support, and meet the young people behind this media institution, which he described as an important reference for South Sudanese living in Australia.
For his part, Mr. Manyjok Kong Manyjok provided a comprehensive overview of the components of Derawet Media Group, which include the official website, YouTube and Facebook platforms, as well as the printed newspaper known as Al-Wadi Newspaper, published in Arabic. He also highlighted the challenges and conditions facing the country, which have had a direct impact on media production and led to the suspension of printing by several media outlets, including Al-Wadi Newspaper.
Mr. Manyjok emphasized that media work continues despite these challenges, underscoring the role of media as a key tool for national development, progress, and for presenting the country’s issues in various forums.
At the conclusion of his remarks, the Chairman of the Board called for stronger cooperation with the South Sudanese community in Australia, in order to reflect their activities and news to citizens inside the country and to strengthen social ties between people at home and their brothers and sisters in the diaspora.
