The Ministry of Health of the Republic of South Sudan, in collaboration with the AIDS Commission and development partners, officially launched the 2025 World AIDS Day activities during a ceremony held this morning in the capital, Juba.
The event was attended by Dr. Yar Manyuon Mayen, Director General for Preventive Health Services at the Ministry of Health, along with several senior government officials, representatives of international organizations, and partner institutions.
In her remarks, Dr. Yar expressed appreciation for the continued efforts of partners and the AIDS Commission in supporting prevention and treatment programs. She reaffirmed the government’s full commitment to sustaining the fight against HIV/AIDS and expanding healthcare services for those affected.
World AIDS Day is observed globally on December 1st each year to raise awareness about the disease, honor those who have lost their lives to it, and strengthen international efforts to achieve comprehensive prevention and treatment.
This year’s theme, “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response,” highlights the importance of innovation and perseverance in addressing health and social challenges.
The event was organized with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, Republic of South Sudan, reaffirming the ongoing partnership to improve the health and wellbeing of the nation’s citizens.
