Juba: Al-Wadi
The South Sudan national basketball team lost to its Angolan counterpart with a score of 66–64 in its third game within Group C of the FIBA AfroBasket 2025. The tournament is being hosted in the Angolan capital Luanda and the city of Moçâmedes, in its 31st edition, taking place from August 12 to 24.
Our national team had previously lost its opening game against Guinea 80–88, before bouncing back with a big win over Libya 115–52. Both teams suffered from the absence of key players such as Jones, Maluach, and Chayok.

The Bright Stars will now face Senegal in the playoff round, hoping to secure a win and reach the quarterfinals. South Sudan finished third in its group, which also included Angola, Guinea, and Libya.
The top team from each of the four groups qualifies directly for the quarterfinals, while the second- and third-placed teams play in a playoff for a spot in the last eight.
It is worth noting that Tunisia is the defending champion, having won the previous edition of the tournament in 2021, which was held in Kigali, Rwanda.
