South Sudan Basketball Team Bids Farewell to AfroBasket

Juba: Al-Wadi

The South Sudan national basketball team has exited the final stages of the African Basketball Championship (AfroBasket – Angola 2025), following their loss in the playoff match yesterday against Senegal with a score of 78–65.

The Bright Stars failed to qualify directly for the quarterfinals after finishing third in their group, which forced them to play a playoff match against Senegal for a spot in the quarterfinals.

Nuni Omot and his teammates had lost their opening game in Group C against Guinea, before defeating Libya in the second match, only to fall again in their third game against the host nation, Angola.

The squad also witnessed the absence of six players at once, most notably Jones and Shayok, while newcomer Kendale Mc Cullum joined the roster.
