Bentiu City FC have been relegated from the South Sudan Premier League to the local First Division league in Bentiu following their defeat in the final round of the league season against Salaam Aweil FC by 3-1. The Aweil-based side raised their tally to 25 points, moving away from the relegation zone, while Bentiu City remained on 21 points.
The team only needed a single point to avoid relegation. Despite taking the lead early in the match, Salaam Aweil managed to overturn the result and secure victory in the end.
Although Olympic Renk defeated Hilal Wau who were considered closer to relegation than Bentiu City — the goal difference favored the Wau side, allowing them to survive relegation dramatically and secure their place in the top flight for next season.
Bentiu City join Lion Hunters FC, who had already been relegated earlier after spending most of the season at the bottom of the table representing the Yei Football Association.
