The General Assembly of the South Sudan Football Association, in its 4th extra-ordinary elective congress held last Friday, elected Francis Amin Michael as its president, after he defeated the outgoing president, Augustino Maduot Parek. Amin secured 26 votes compared to Maduot’s 12.

Amin had previously led the South Sudan Football Federation during the 2017–2021 term, before losing the 2021 elections to his successor, Augustino Maduot.

The 4th extra-ordinary elective congress also elected 13 members to the Executive Committee of the South Sudan Football Federation for the upcoming 2025–2029 term.

A total of 38 delegates from 16 member associations voted in the elections, which were held in the conference hall of the Bank of South Sudan, in the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports, as well as representatives from FIFA, CAF, and CECAFA, in addition to stakeholders in the country’s sports sector.
