South Sudan Launches Nationwide Measles Vaccination Campaign at the End of April

Juba: Al-Wadi Newspaper

The Ministry of Health in South Sudan is preparing to launch a nationwide measles follow-up vaccination campaign, set to begin on April 24, 2025. The campaign aims to vaccinate over 3 million children between the ages of 6 to 59 months, covering all 80 counties across the country.

To ensure the success of the campaign, national supervisors have been trained with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) in South Sudan, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, UNICEF South Sudan, and other partners.

This campaign is designed to reach every child with life-saving vaccines, strengthen South Sudan’s national immunization system, and reduce the risk of outbreaks of infectious diseases like measles.

The collective effort reflects the government’s commitment, along with its partners, to safeguarding the health of children and building a safer, healthier future for the next generation.
