Arrest of Senior SPLM-IO Politicians in Warrap State

Local media reports from Warrap State have confirmed that security forces arrested several prominent politicians affiliated with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) on Tuesday morning.

Among those arrested are:

  • Kuech Mayar, Speaker of the Warrap State Legislative Assembly
  • Deng Kok, Legal Advisor to the State Government

Both were reportedly taken to an undisclosed location. The arrests come amid accusations of incitement and creating unrest in the state.

According to eyewitnesses, armed security forces stormed the State Assembly building early this morning and detained the two officials. No further information has been released regarding their whereabouts or the charges they face.

A crowd of concerned citizens and observers gathered outside the assembly building, closely following the unfolding developments amid an atmosphere of tension and uncertainty.
