Celebrating International Women’s Day: A New Opportunity to Develop Women’s Skills

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Ghanaian troops of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) taught girls and women how to make beads and print t-shirts in the Nyiang area of Rubkona County, Unity State.

The UN mission team stated that the Blue Helmets carried out this initiative in line with this year’s theme, which focuses on empowering and educating women and girls. Through learning how to make beads and print t-shirts, women were able to develop new skills that offer them opportunities to earn an income and support their families.

International Women’s Day provides an opportunity for women to speak out about the challenges they face while also showcasing their achievements and advocating for their rights.
