Youth Killed by Gangs, Joint Security Forces Fire to Disperse Rival Groups

Emmanuel Panadol Wani, a resident of Mauna Block 3 in Juba, reported that joint security forces used gunfire to disperse a rival gang engaged in combat after a teenager was killed in the neighborhood early Thursday morning.
The eyewitness described how the area had been tense since the morning of December 26. He explained that the shooting of a 17-year-old teenager by unidentified gunmen had sparked violence between rival gangs, prompting joint security forces to respond with gunfire in an attempt to control the situation.
According to Panadol, the victim, a young man named Alfonse Sule, was shot and killed while returning from Christmas celebrations.
“The situation in Mauna Block 3 is not good. Alfonse, a young boy, was killed this morning at 1:42 a.m. after leaving a nightclub.”, He added.
The government authorities had deployed joint security forces to secure the city of Juba and monitor areas where youth gangs are active, aiming to maintain safety and peace during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
