South Sudan beat Somalia in Cecafa

The South Sudan U-17 national team kicked off their matches in the East and Central Africa Cecafa Junior African Nations Championship qualifiers held in Uganda’s capital, Kampala, with a 3-0 win over defending champions Somalia in the opening match of Group B at the Nakivubo Humes Stadium in Kampala.

Shaker 38, Fanom 45+ and Lazarus 77 scored the goals for the Young Stars.

South Sudan will face neighbours Sudan in the Million Mile Derby on the 18th of Wednesday in the final match of the group.

The six teams participating in the qualifiers are Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia and Uganda. They are divided into two groups with three teams in each group.

The Ugandan capital Kampala will host the tournament between 15 December and 27 December 2024.

Somalia won the title in the previous tournament, which was held in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, after beating South Sudan.
