Cecafa Federation partially reschedules draw for Cecafa junior qualifiers

Juba/ Alwadi

The East and Central Africa Confederation (CECAFA) has partially rescheduled the draw for the CECAFA U-17 qualifiers. This is after Burundi withdrew from the qualifiers for reasons attributed by Burundi Federation officials to the failure of many of the team’s players in the MRI test.

Burundi’s withdrawal comes after Ethiopia withdrew from the qualifiers for financial reasons after the draw.

In this draw, the organizing committee moved Kenya to Group A with Tanzania and Uganda, making the number of teams 3 in each group. While Sudan and South Sudan, in addition to the defending champions Somalia, are in the second qualifying group.

The first and second from each group qualify for the semifinals. While the champion and runner-up of the competition qualify for the finals of the next U-17 African Cup of Nations directly.

The Ugandan capital, Kampala, will host the qualifiers from December 14 to 29.

The title of the last tournament, which was held in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, is held by Somalia after beating South Sudan 3/1 in the final match.
