Al Hilal stunned hosts Al Shabab of Tanzania, beating them at home and in front of their home fans by two goals without reply in the first round of the African Champions League group stage at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in the Tanzanian capital, Dar es Salaam, this afternoon.
Al Hilal coach Florent Ibiengue bet on the counter-attack and succeeded in his bet after they retreated to their own half in the face of Yanga’s pressure.
The Blues snatched two goals from two counter-attacks in the 63rd and 90th minutes, scored by Malian Adama Coulibaly and substitute Yasser Muzammil.
With the away win, Al Hilal secured three precious points in the group stage, putting them at the top of their group.
