President Salva Kiir Mayardit officially opened the 8th Governors’ Forum and urged the country’s leaders and stakeholders to continue their efforts toward achieving peace and economic development in the nation.
The week-long event brings together governors of the country’s ten states, chief administrators of the three administrative areas, international organizations, UN agencies, and the diplomatic community to strengthen national cohesion and discuss pressing challenges facing the nation.

In his inaugural address, President Kiir called for unity and collaboration to achieve lasting peace, emphasizing that overcoming the country’s challenges requires collective action and meaningful dialogue at all levels of government.
The President reaffirmed his commitment to restoring comprehensive peace in the country, noting that his recent decision to restructure the government delegation to the “Nairobi Tumaini” peace initiative was aimed at expediting the conclusion of peace talks, which are set to resume soon.

Held under the theme “Building Sustainable Peace: A Commitment to the Extended R-ARCSS Transitional Phase,” the forum provides a platform for leaders and stakeholders to exchange ideas and strategies for rebuilding the country.
The President directed state leaders and chief administrators to develop their respective state economies by creating jobs for the youth, stressing the importance of innovation in attracting investments, stimulating economic activities, and fostering entrepreneurship among citizens.
