As South Sudan begins its vital constitution-making process, UN Women in South Sudan on Wednesday called on journalists to use their influence to shape the nation’s future by practicing inclusive, gender-sensitive reporting.
This message was given during a two-day training event sponsored by UN Women and arranged by the Female Journalists Network.
UN Women’s Deputy Country Director Rukaya Mohammed stressed the importance of the media in influencing public opinion and promoting gender equality. “You hold the pen that sets the country’s agenda. This is your opportunity to make amends by creating a constitution that takes gender equality into account.
