Under the slogan “Together, We Are Making Progress Toward Improving Healthcare in South Sudan,” the country’s high-level health steering committee held a vital meeting to assess the current health situation and the progress made in the Health Sector Transformation Project.
Minister of Health, Dr. Yolanda Awel Deng, stated: “The partners are here to fill the gap in service delivery, not to replace the government,” urging all stakeholders to understand their roles in ensuring the provision of services to citizens.

Dr. Deng provided valuable insights into the achievements and challenges facing the health project during its implementation on the ground. In the spirit of enhancing understanding and collaboration, the UNICEF representative in South Sudan, Hamida, proposed organizing joint field trips involving partners, the project management team, and health officials to assess the progress of the project on the ground. This initiative will help to better understand the challenges faced by implementing partners and strengthen collective efforts in the health sector across the country, in line with the slogan “Together, We Are Making Progress Toward Improving Healthcare in South Sudan
