More than 24 dump trucks loaded with gravel have arrived in the Abyei Administrative Area to begin paving the Abyei–Agok regional road.
The trucks were received by officials from the Abyei Administrative Area government, led by the Deputy Chief Administrator Arop Deng Kuol, the Speaker of the Legislative Council Dr. Yak Deng Ater, Minister of Finance and Planning Ajak Deng Mian, and Minister of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports Yohanna Akol Ngor, along with several other local officials.
The event was also attended by Deng Makuach Deng, Director General of the Ministry of Roads and Bridges in the neighboring Warrap State. The occasion is considered significant within ongoing development efforts for this vital road. His participation reflects strengthened cooperation and coordination between the two administrations, especially as both sides agreed to supply Abyei with the gravel needed for road maintenance to improve infrastructure and transportation.
In an exclusive statement to Abyei Now Online Newspaper, Deng Makuach Deng said the two governments agreed to supply gravel for the Abyei–Agok road as part of governmental cooperation aimed at improving infrastructure and enhancing transportation between the two areas.
According to Abyei Now, the Abyei–Warrap road is a strategic route in the Bahr el Ghazal region, linking the area to major commercial centers, most notably the Amiet market. The road facilitates the movement of citizens and promotes trade exchange across different parts of South Sudan.
