Governor of Upper Nile State Visits Khor-Niangari Area to Address Border Dispute Between Fashoda and Akoka Counties

The Governor of Upper Nile State, Jacob Dollar Rut, accompanied by Deputy Governor Deng Akuei Kak, visited the disputed Khor-Niangari area between Fashoda and Akoka counties.

The visit aimed to assess the situation on the ground and consult with local leaders regarding the long-standing border dispute between the two areas. The delegation also included the commissioners of Fashoda and Akoka counties, along with several local officials and representatives of the local communities.

Governor Rut emphasized the importance of maintaining peace, unity, and the spirit of solidarity among neighboring communities. He noted that disagreements over land should be resolved through dialogue among residents who have lived together for a long time.

The governor assured the residents of the area that the state government is fully committed to addressing the issue through peaceful dialogue, administrative review, and legal procedures. He also explained that the government will work in coordination with the relevant authorities and community leaders to reach a fair and lasting solution to the dispute.
