The Governor of Bank of South Sudan, Mr. Johnny Ohisa Damian, received on Tuesday a membership certificate from the African Rural and Agricultural Credit Association (AFRACA), marking South Sudan’s commitment to enhancing agricultural finance, rural development, and regional cooperation.
The certificate was presented by the Bank’s Director General for Economic Research and Analysis, Charles Abugo Joseph, who emphasized that this membership will help strengthen the Bank’s institutional capacity and enable it to play a more active role in shaping regional agricultural finance policies.
The ceremony was attended by the First Deputy Governor for Policy and Banking, Mr. Tong Akec Deng, and the Second Deputy Governor for Administration and Finance, Mr. Weituy Luony Babouth, during which the future prospects for advancing rural and agricultural finance in the country were discussed.
AFRACA, established in 1977, is a Pan-African association that includes central banks, commercial banks, agricultural and development banks, microfinance institutions, and training institutions across 30 countries. It aims to promote cooperation and knowledge sharing in rural and agricultural finance across the continent.
