President Salva Kiir Mayardit has urged communities in Upper Nile State to strengthen unity and reconciliation as a key measure to safeguard peace and stability across the state. The appeal followed a report presented to him by the Governor of Upper Nile, Jacob Dollar Ruot, on the latest developments in the region.

The President stated: “Peace begins with the willingness of communities to embrace one another. Unity is the foundation for stability and development in Upper Nile.”

During the meeting, Governor Jacob Dollar Ruot provided a comprehensive briefing on his recent official tour of the northern parts of the state, including Renk and Maban, highlighting key engagements with local authorities and communities, and providing an overview of general conditions observed during the visit.

The Governor also updated the President on the situation of returnees arriving from Sudan, outlining ongoing reception and coordination efforts by state authorities and partners. He further briefed the President on the overall security and political situation in Upper Nile, describing it as calm and stable.

Governor Dollar described the situation after visiting Renk and Manyo as reassuring, emphasizing: “Our message to our people is clear: this is the time for reconciliation, reintegration, and dialogue.” He encouraged returnees from Sudan to reintegrate rather than remain in displacement camps.

The President also reassured citizens to remain patient while the government works to normalize the situation. The Governor stressed the importance of inclusive dialogue among all Upper Nile communities, including those in Juba, to address key issues and ensure long-term stability.

This initiative reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to consolidate peace, promote reintegration, and strengthen dialogue as core pillars for sustainable stability in Upper Nile State.

President Kiir welcomed the briefing, commending the state leadership for maintaining stability and meeting the needs of returnees, while reaffirming the national government’s commitment to supporting peace, security, and humanitarian response in the region.
