South Sudan Embassy in Cairo Discusses Community Affairs with Egyptian Foreign Ministry

The Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan in Cairo, headed by Ambassador Kual Nyuk Kual Arop, Chief of Mission, and with the participation of the Embassy’s Executive Secretary, held an official meeting on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, with Ambassador Yasser Sorour, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director of the Sudan and South Sudan Department at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting addressed several issues related to the situation of South Sudanese citizens residing in the Arab Republic of Egypt, focusing particularly on residency matters and the related legal procedures, as well as discussing the main challenges faced by members of the community.

The Embassy expressed satisfaction with the meeting, which took place in a positive atmosphere of cooperation and mutual understanding, noting that the Egyptian side showed clear understanding of the community’s circumstances and readiness to coordinate and work jointly to reach appropriate solutions, within the framework of the laws and regulations in force in the country.

In this context, Ambassador Kual Nyuk Kual Arop conveyed several messages to the South Sudanese community in Egypt, emphasizing the importance of complying with the laws and regulations of the Arab Republic of Egypt, particularly regarding the completion and renewal of residency permits and official documents, maintaining a proper legal status in a way that serves the interests of individuals and the community as a whole, and cooperating with the relevant authorities by following the approved legal procedures.

The Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan in Cairo also reaffirmed its full commitment to supporting and serving members of the community, while respecting the laws and regulations of the host country, ensuring orderly procedures, safeguarding human dignity, and strengthening fraternal relations between the two countries.

Furthermore, the Embassy reiterated its commitment to continuing coordination and communication with the relevant Egyptian authorities to serve the interests of South Sudanese citizens and contribute to enhancing bilateral cooperation between the Republic of South Sudan and the Arab Republic of Egypt.
