The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Agnes Adlino Orifa Oswaha, together with Ms. Anita Kiki Gbeho, Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in South Sudan, bid farewell to Mr. Jean-Pierre Lacroix, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, at Juba International Airport, following the conclusion of his official visit to the Republic of South Sudan.

The visit of the UN official came within the framework of strengthening cooperation between the Government of South Sudan and the United Nations, and discussing issues related to peacekeeping operations and support for efforts to promote stability and peace in the country.
Jean-Pierre Lacroix is regarded as one of the most prominent international diplomats. He currently serves as Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations and brings more than 25 years of political and diplomatic experience, with a particular focus on multilateral organizations and United Nations programmes and activities.


Previously, Mr. Lacroix served as Director for United Nations, International Organizations, Human Rights and Francophonie at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2014 to 2017. He has also held several senior positions, including Ambassador of France to Sweden, Chief of Protocol of France, Deputy Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations in New York, Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in Prague, as well as First Secretary and later Second Counsellor at the French Embassy in Washington.
