South Sudan’s Minister of Transport, Rizik Zakaria Hassan, announced on Thursday that the ministry plans to launch a nationwide recruitment campaign to hire 400 new employees, in an effort to address staffing shortages across its various departments.
In remarks reported by Radio Tamazuj on its Facebook page, the minister said the Ministry of Public Service has approved the recruitment plan, noting that the process will begin soon.
Hassan explained that the ministry will accept applications from qualified South Sudanese citizens interested in joining the institution, adding that a special committee has been formed to oversee the recruitment process, including shortlisting candidates and conducting interviews.
He urged recent graduates and experienced professionals to apply, stressing that the initiative is part of broader efforts to strengthen government institutions and improve service delivery.
“We are asking competent South Sudanese citizens to fill the gaps in our workforce,” he said, expressing optimism that ongoing challenges in the public sector—such as delayed salary payments—will gradually improve.
The ministry did not disclose the start date for the application process or the types of positions that will be available.
The Ministry of Transport is one of South Sudan’s key government institutions, responsible for developing and regulating transport infrastructure including road, rail, river, and air transport, as well as overseeing public transport safety and logistics services.
