The UNDP South Sudan Facebook page reported that the National Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security successfully convened the National Technical Committee (NTC) meeting for the Rural Enterprises for Agricultural Development (READ) project, with the participation of several partners and key stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
According to the report, the meeting reviewed the progress of the project over the past period and discussed major technical and administrative challenges facing its implementation. Participants also presented proposals and recommendations aimed at accelerating progress and achieving the project’s planned objectives.
The READ project, funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, aims to empower rural women in South Sudan by enhancing their skills, improving access to finance, and strengthening market linkages.
The report emphasized that the project seeks to enhance food security, build sustainable livelihoods for rural families, and contribute to improving the local economy, thereby promoting social stability and comprehensive agricultural development across South Sudan.
