In a new step to enhance peace and stability in Warrap State, Ambassador Bol Wek Agoth was officially sworn in this morning before President Salva Kiir Mayardit to assume his duties as the new governor of the state.

During the swearing-in ceremony held in the capital, Juba, President Kiir addressed the people of Tonj and the wider Warrap community, urging them to welcome the new governor with a spirit of openness and cooperation, and to work alongside him in turning the page on violence and division, paving the way for lasting peace and development.

Governor Bol Wek, for his part, expressed his full commitment to prioritizing peace in the state, alongside enforcing the rule of law and strengthening the effectiveness of local governance. He also called on Warrap natives residing in Juba to be voices of peace and ambassadors of unity, in light of the serious security challenges facing the state.

This move comes as part of ongoing efforts by the central government to find sustainable solutions to the deteriorating security situation in Warrap State, which continues to suffer from recurring violence and a weakening of the rule of law.
