The Speaker of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, Hon. Jemma Nunu Kumba, expressed her pride in participating in the opening of a board capacity development workshop organized by Concern for Women and Children in Juba, under the theme “Enabling a Vibrant and Functioning Board.”
In a post on her official social media page, Kumba stated that she delivered the keynote address at the event, which forms part of broader efforts to enhance effective governance in institutions serving the most vulnerable communities.
She praised the role of Concern for Women and Children, an organization chaired by the First Lady of the Republic of South Sudan, H.E. Mary Ayen Mayardit, noting its continued leadership in empowering women and protecting children across the country.
“I was inspired by the enthusiasm I witnessed among board members and the leadership team. It was an honor to stand alongside them as they laid strong foundations for sound governance and sustainable community service,” she said.
Kumba emphasized the importance of having strong, inclusive, and strategic boards to promote transparency and accountability within institutions—especially those focused on improving conditions in vulnerable communities.
In her closing remarks, she commended the First Lady for championing platforms that foster learning and institutional development, stating, “Our nation grows stronger when women lead with clarity, compassion, and a deep sense of responsibility.”
