The Commissioner of Juba County in Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Tete Ezbon, launched a large-scale clean-up campaign today in the Haboba Bridge area of Gudele (2), in collaboration with City Link Company. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve public health and curb the spread of diseases, especially with the rainy season approaching.
During the launch event, the commissioner emphasized that maintaining cleanliness is essential for protecting public health, warning that improper waste disposal significantly contributes to the spread of epidemics such as cholera. He urged residents to use designated garbage disposal sites properly, as this would facilitate the work of cleaning teams and enhance municipal efforts in the sanitation sector.
He added that dumping waste in unauthorized places will not be tolerated, stressing that adherence to public hygiene regulations helps preserve the city’s beauty and makes it more attractive to visitors and tourists.
The campaign is part of a strategic partnership between the Juba County Government and City Link Company, which adopts the principle of “Clean and Green Thinking.” The campaign includes cleaning targeted locations as well as conducting strong awareness programs aimed at various community groups.
This initiative plays a key role in addressing health and environmental challenges by preventing disease, promoting environmental awareness, and supporting Juba’s growing potential as a tourist destination.
